All rules as per Triathlon Competition Rules which can be found here.

Exemptions specific to this event include:

  1. This is a team event. Teams of three athletes will be permitted to ride in drafting formation;
  2. Athletes who are registered with Triathlon Australia as a Professional/Elite athlete are only permitted to race in Premier Division.  Non-elite registered athletes are permitted to race in Premier  Division;
  3. Teams are not permitted to draft other teams on the bike course. Rule 75 as per TA competition rules paragraph 71 – 81 (inclusive) applies between teams with the exception that the distance allowed between teams is 10 metres;
  4. If a technical official deems that a team has engaged in drafting, that team will be required to enter the penalty box AT THE COMPELETION of the 20km ride for a 2 minute stand down. The Penalty Box will be located on the right hand side of the bike course next to the last turn prior to the bike straight leading to the transition area;
  5. Teams must be made up of 3 members of the same club/organisation;
  6. Clubs being represented must be registered clubs with Triathlon Australia;
  7. Teams are permitted to “drop” one member at any time throughout the time trial. For a team’s time to be eligible two team members must cross the finish line within 2 seconds of one another;
  8. Mixed Teams must have a minimum of 1 female.  This female must finish the race with a second team member for the team to be eligble for points;
  9. Teams may start the event with 2 team members.  In the case of the Mixed Division 1 of these athletes must be a female;
  10. An extension to the steering system may be added. The distance between the vertical line passing the bottom bracket axle and the extremity of the handlebar may not exceed 75cm. A support for the elbows or forearms is permitted. Controls or levers fixed to the handlebar extension may extend beyond the 75cm limit as long as they do not constitute a change of use, particularly that of providing an alternative hand position beyond the 75cm mark.
    The distance of 75cm may be increased to 80cm to the extent that this is required for morphological reasons; "morphological reasons" should be taken as meaning anything regarding the size or length of the riders body parts. A rider who, for this reason, considers that he needs to make use of a distance between 75 and 80cm must inform the head technical official at the moment he attends the race site. In such cases the head technical official may carry out the following test: ensuring the angle between the forearm and upper arm does not exceed 120 degrees when the rider is in a racing position.
  11. If at the end of a Division, teams are equal on time for 1st place, a 1km time trial run-off will occur for the title. One member from each team will be nominated for the run-off. The first team member to cross the finish line will be crowned the Division Premiers. This will not affect the overall pointscore.
  12. If, at the completion of all Divisional racing, two or more clubs are equal in points for either first, second or third position, the winner of that position will be decided by the highest finisher of a club team in the Premier Division Male category. If this results in another tie officials will then refer to the following Divisions in the nominated order until a clear winner is found:

    • Premier Division Female
    • Division Two Male
    • Division Two Female
    • Division Three Male
    • Division Three Female
    • Over 45’s Male
    • Over 45’s Female
    • Mixed Division

For the Corporate Division

  1. Male Division
  2. Female Division
  3. Mixed Division

1. Overall Points Table is decided on a “final pointscore” based on a clubs “best 5 performed teams”. This is based on the points they accumulate in each race. i.e if Club Tri has 7 teams that score 44, 26, 18, 16.5, 12, 8 and 4 then the “total raw score” would be 128.5. However the 2 lowest scores of 8 and 4 will be dropped for the “final pointscore” meaning Club Tri scores 116.5.

2. Positions (and therefore pointscores) in the top 20 remain the same regardless of whether the points earned contribute to the clubs/organisation final pointscore. i.e there won’t be any adjustments because a team did not use a score in the final total. If Club Tri finishes 6th in Div 3, they will score 15 points regardless of who beats them.

3. Premier Division is worth double points. Only one Premier Division Male and one Premier Division Female team per club can be entered. It is NOT compulsory to enter Premier Division teams.
Corporate teams pointscore for all Division is based on Premier Division pointscore.

4. Division 2, Mixed Division and Over 45’s are worth 1.5 points.
5. Clubs must have at least 3 teams entered to be eligible for the club/corporate championship title.
6. If a club has less than 5 teams entered the teams missing will be classified as Phantom Teams. Regardless of where else this clubs teams are entered these phantom teams will be placed into:

Club Championships

- Phantom Team 1 goes into last position in Male Div 3
- Phantom Team 2 goes into last position in Female Div 3

Corporate Championships

- Phantom Team 1 goes into last position in Male Div
- Phantom Team 2 goes into last position in Female Div

E.g. if there were 10 teams in Div 3 Male and Club Tri and Club Bike needs one phantom team each (as they only entered 4 teams) they will both be placed in 11th place and score 10 points each.

7. For every 10 teams a club/organisation enters that club will receive an additional 5 points to their final total
