What is the Scody Corporate Teams Challenge?
The Scody Corporate Triathlon Teams Challenge is open to any group who want to have fun together. Entering as a group of three you can represent your company as you strive to be crowned the fittest organization in Australia.
The following Divisions can be entered:
- Over 45’s Division
- Male Division
- Female Division
What does competing in a team mean?
Each team consists of 3 team members who will race over the sprint distance in a time trial fashion. Time trial fashion means that you will start the race together as a group and then ride and run together. The aim is to cross the finish line as a group.
The three members must keep together and to be eligible for the all important points, two members of each team must cross the finish line within 2 seconds of one another. If one of your members cannot keep up, that’s ok the other two members can go on and cross the finish line. The third member can run at their own pace and cross the finish line without affecting the team time or all three team members can keep together and cross the finish line as a team.
Drafting on the bike is legal amongst the three team members, in fact it is vital and tactics are paramount. Points are awarded in each division with every team earning points in each division.
What is drafting?
Drafting is the art of riding in a group. You will be required to ride in a single line one behind the other. Remember to keep a nice safe distance behind the bike in front of you so that you can brake if you need to. The important thing is to talk to your team mates.
Mixed Division
Mixed Division is three man teams. Teams may enter with only 1 female in their three member team. However that female must finish the event for the team to eligible for points.
How many teams does my organisation need to be eligble for the overall organization prize?
There will be awards for each Division so even if you are your organizations only team you will be eligble for a prize.
Pointscore is based on organizations best five performed teams. Every team assists in the pointscore as points are awarded to 20th place and teams can act as blockers on the pointscore ladder. So the more teams the better.
An organization does not have to enter a team in every category to enter the Corporate Teams event. To be eligible for the organization pointscore you must have at least 2 teams entered in the event. If your club does not have the five teams entered you will simply receive a phantom team for the teams up to five teams in the Divisions you are not represented, starting with Male Division, then the Female Division and followed by Mixed Division.
E.g. If Club A has entered two teams they receive three phantom teams. Their first phantom team is placed in the Male Division, the second phantom team is placed in Female Division and the third phantom team is entered in the Mixed Division. These three phantom teams instantly receive last place points in their Division. To be eligible for the Corporate Championship there must be at least 2 teams entered.
I am coming from the country or interstate, where will I stay?
